Nothing Like The Desert

By gartenfische | May 28, 2008

to clean out the mind. We had a wonderful trip, only it was so short. To be super cleaned out would take another few days, I think. I’m not complaining. Oh no—the beauty was incredible. What a gift.

Here I am, writing in my little book at a beautiful site called Devil’s Garden. Click here to see somebody else’s photos of this amazing place. Yeah, it’s easier to find a link than to upload a bunch of photos—call me lazy. Okay, now I feel pretty silly having said that, so here’s a photo I took of a gorgeous reward after a long hike in the hot sun.

Please see wyrdbyrd for a photo of Isabel and I in the car on the ride back. One of us looks happy. Take a guess which one it is!

Wonderful! That’s a very nice picture of you, by the way, but I have to say that the star of the piece is that stream in the desert. Now that’s my kind of place!

Why, hello gorgeous! Glad you’re back safe, sage, and sound! The place looks wonderful, just like somewhere I’d like to go hike.

Interesting that the first three comments are from non-Americans (except for Charlotte, who’s one by address, if not temperament), because most of the people we ran into down there were non-Americans: three groups of Germans, one British pair of cyclists, a woman from Holland, a carful of Japanese. Plus others, whose accents I couldn’t place. I’m sure the low value of the dollar makes the U.S. a great vacation spot for many. And I’ve noticed in the past that Europeans seem to love the American Southwest. When my daughter and I were at Mesa Verde a few years ago, there were lots of Europeans (especially Germans).

Anyway, you all would’ve loved it! I wish we could’ve all gone together (now wouldn’t that be something?!).

Oh heaven! I love the photo of the water.

And the photo of you writing in your book.

The desert is a very special place for me and I have had some time there, but never enough.

I am so glad that your trip was good and I am very delighted to see you back on the blogs. (a place i am trying to not spend too much time on…)

    Thank you.

The waterfall photo is amazing. When I first looked at it, I imagined I saw a white, ghostly person, jumping in, feet first, arms outstretched in joy.

Poodledoc, YES! Wow, have to admit I didn’t take that in. That is amazing.
